Well, this is my version of a twin‑boom sport jet.

Twin‑boom jets have a beautiful presence both on the ground and in the air, so I had to design one myself. It is inspired by several turbine models such as the PushyCat, Excalibur, and of course the HobbyKing FlyCat.

The CoCat has both the looks and the sound. While working on the intake and thrust tube to achieve strong static thrust for easy hand launches, the sound developed into a very satisfying whooosh. This jet quickly became my favorite go‑to model.

As with all my designs, I created it with ease of use in rough flying environments in mind. It is easy to hand‑launch, easy to land on tough grass, handles gusty winds with a gentle character, and has a very wide flight envelope. From slow flight to unlimited vertical. The CoCat does it all.

The build is straightforward, and short instructions are included.

The nose, wing, and tail are mounted with screws, allowing them to be replaced without reprinting the entire airframe.

The wingspan is 775 mm, and the weight excluding the LiPo is about 560 grams.

 

Parts:
50mm EDF (i use XFly, others will work)
~40A esc
3 x 9gr servos, no rudder.
5.8 or 6mm carbon rod

3D printing settings
Active foaming LW pla.

  • after lot of flying my advice is to print the tailbooms heavier. 5% infill + 2 walls -> easier CG and stronger on landings.
  • After some feedback about CG, start about a 10mm before marking on maiden.

1 wall
2 top 2 bottom
3% grid infill or gyroid.
