Well, this my version of the fabulous Fantrainer.
The RFB Fantrainer (or Fan Trainer) is a two-seat flight training aircraft which uses a mid-mounted ducted fan propulsion system. Inspired by this jet I made an RC variant of it with a 50mm EDF.
The plane has an easy to handle character, very easy to handlaunch and belly land.It can handle the wind nicely but will also glide like semi glider. A very broad flight envelope. The build is easy, use small pieces of filament as fitting pins on assembly with CA glue.
Flight times are long when flying scale. 6 minutes on a 3s 1300 (100gr) what i prefere.
1300 4s is 9 minutes. I have used up to 1600 4s of 200gr.
The wingspan is 850mm. Weight excl. Lipo is about 450 gramms.
- Thrusttube tail with rudder as option 1
- 50mm edf housing tail with rudder as option 2
- or original tail, no rudder as option 3
Video of a prerelease version with a bit of damage on nose and bit of rough landing.
